China"s government is in the process of implementing major healthcare reforms which should dramatically improve the provision of services for the nation"s 1.3 billion citizens, a new report has said.

Thanks to $180 billion worth of investment announced back in 2009, changes are occurring in five key areas, according to Reportlinker.com"s latest market research report, entitled "Inside China"s Healthcare Reforms: Opportunities for Multinational Pharma".

These are the expansion of medical insurance coverage; the creation of a national essential drug list; investment in primary healthcare facilities; more equal distribution of healthcare provision; and public hospital pilot schemes.
